Account Manager
Classification:
Full-time, Non-Exempt
Primary Purpose of the Job:
The account manager contacts debtors that owe monies to clients, making complete and concise notes on every contact with proper writing etiquette. They use the telephone to contact the debtor in a professional manner. If the call is successful, they attempt to collect the total amount due, make arrangements for repayment and update the account with the appropriate comments.
Essential Duties:
1. Reviews new accounts to determine course of action in collecting debt
2. Orders paperwork for legal pursuit
3. Does skip tracing on accounts that are difficult to contact by mail or by phone
4. Makes outbound calls to attempt to contact debtors regarding outstanding monies
5. Reviews statements and assignments for decision to pursue legal actions
6. Request accounts to be merged
7. Has knowledge ofFDCPA and has passed the FDCPA test, and telephone collector test
8. Answer telephone
9. Verifies debtors’ place of employment
10. Orders notices
11. Determines when to forward accounts
12. Returns phone calls within one business day
13. Works special projects such as status of accounts on client inventory reports as requested
14. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the collections field
15. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
16. Handles debtor questions and requests
17. Notifies Compliance on disputed accounts
18. Takes payments over the phone
19. With every call verifies address, phone number, POE,’ and SS#.

Required Experience:
1. Minimum 1 year of clerical or office experience
Required Education:
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent
2. Associates Degree in business or its equivalent preferred, but not required

Skills:
1. Communication skills: Verbal & Written (with Management, Co-workers, debtors)
2. Computer skills and data entry
Safety Hazards:
1. Minimal hazards. General office working conditions.
